K - 6 students have weekly sports and PE lessons. All students are encouraged to join in these and other sporting activities to develop their physical and social skills. For sporting events children wear a sports shirt in their House colour. The sports houses and colours are:

AMANGU - Blue
BENDJALONG Yellow
KALKADOON Green
PITTA PITTA - Red

Special school sporting events include: Swimming and Athletics Carnivals (Term 1), Cross Country Event (Term 2) and Learn to Swim lessons (Term 1 or 4 -rotation with other local schools).

Calare is a member of the Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) and participates in a great variety of sporting activities involving other schools in the region. The opportunity to try out for school, district, regional and state teams is offered in the following sports: athletics, swimming, cross country, basketball, cricket (boys), hockey (girls), netball (girls), rugby league (boys), soccer, softball, tennis and touch football. The most successful team in the 2008 PSSA Knockout Competition was the Girls Touch Football Team who was the state runner up. Our Senior Girls Relay Team was placed first in NSW.

Weekend sporting opportunities are offered by a number of independent sporting clubs who use the school as their base.
